Reawaken to the true nature of human beings, that of a caretaker, a steward of Earth - Khalifa al-Ard.
Inaya Permaculture is organizing a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course of its kind in Jordan. Our innovative curriculum was developed to meet everyone’s needs and help you guide through all the practical steps needed to start your own project.
Aimed at anyone wanting to reconnect with natural ecosystems and incorporate these skills into their own lives, this exceptional seminar will be led by some of the best international specialists in permaculture:
Rhamis Kent, Permaculture Research Institute (US)
Rhamis Kent is a consultant with formal training in mechanical engineering (University of Delaware, BSME, 1995) and permaculture-based regenerative whole systems design. He serves as a registered, certified permaculture design instructor with the Permaculture Research Institute (PRI) in Australia.
He also serves as a codirector of the PRI, is a member of Permaculture Sustainable Consulting Pty. Ltd., and is on the supervisory board of the Netherlands-registered nonprofit Ecosystem Restoration Camps.
Rhamis has taught permaculture design (both formal certification and short intensive courses) in Palestine/Occupied West Bank, Greece, Ethiopia, Yemen, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Australia, and the United States (Michigan, California, and Vermont). He has performed additional consultancy work on projects in Spain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Somaliland, and Western Sahara. He has been a recognized voice in Permaculture for more than 10 years, having taught numerous courses all over the world while presenting the “Repairing the Earth” series on IQRA TV and featuring, among others, in the INHABIT movie.
Antoine Bernardeau & Kadidia Sanogo, Inaya Permaculture (FR)
First as a couple and now as a family of 4, Antoine Bernardeau & Kadidia Sanogo have been making their own transition from city dwellers to permaculturists for the past 7 years. Having left their native Paris in 2012 for a 3-year, 5-continents, plane-free farm tour of the world - and backpacking to Hajj in the process - they’re now established in Jordan since 2015, regularly teaching and consulting in both Europe and the Middle East.
Abla Abu Elhajj is a Composting expert and a true Permaculture enthusiast. Originally a Palestinian refugee who grew up in al-Baqaa, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan, Abla used to work as a teacher in Amman until she found out about permaculture. She quit her job and the city life in 2017 and bought a small piece of land in the Dead Sea valley where she now lives and grows her own produce. She trained herself in the various subjects of permaculture, got hands-on experience by implementing those strategies in her farm, and has now successfully converted her 600 square metres of rocky arid land into an increasingly fertile garden that stands as an exemplary model for all permaculture students.
She is producing her own food, collecting eggs from her chickens, making compost, planting nitrogen-fixers to build up the soil. She’s got sugarcane, olives, mangoes, spinach, tomato, potato and what not! Abla is now heavily involved in teaching permaculture and her mission in life is to green the deserts in Jordan through the strategies she’s learnt. Watch her story.
Basia Dworak-Bahan has a background in industrial Design as well as Teaching specialising in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching sustainable practices in all her professional teaching positions. She was a gardening mentor to many Australian kindergartens and primary schools where she shared her knowledge of establishing and maintaining kitchen gardens, community gardens and food is free projects.
She was trained in Eco-Smart, Education for Sustainability by Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board (required for the National Quality Standards in Australian Education).
In her personal life she has maintained a zero-waste lifestyle for many years, long before the term was popular, gaining a wealth of practical ideas which she was keen to continue and pass on to others after her move to Jordan. She has been in Jordan for two years, where she joined the team of Inaya Permaculture as the lead instructor for zero waste, sustainable living and urban gardening workshops.
Having been aware of sustainable alternatives since his early days, Jean-Philippe Cieslak grew up devoting his heart, time and skills to create a better world. After his postgraduate studies in biology, geology and ecology, he taught high school and middle school students for five years, experimenting alternative educational methods in the school. He then launched and became the CEO of Terra Cités, a company that conceived and developed projects of ecological habitats and green real estate. From individual houses to eco-villages, his projects not only integrated humans but also animals and insects into a harmoniously designed environment.
In 2013, he co-founded an agro-ecological farm called L'îlot des Combes located in Creusot-France through which he organizes regular workshops, trainings, visits and retreats that aim at reconnecting people with the earth through permaculture and other sustainable alternatives. This project is part of the Oasis network of Colibris, a movement created by Pierre Rabhi. He is also a project supervisor for Colibris and Alkemi, another project that he is a co-founder of. He currently lives in Creusot-France with his wife, who is a nutritionist and physiotherapist, and his three children.
